Services
Consultations

Phone Consultation
Free, no-obligation phone consultation to discuss concerns related to your child’s communication. Based on information obtained during the consultation, recommendations regarding next steps will be offered. This may include scheduling an evaluation prior to initiating therapy. If your child underwent a formal assessment within the last six months and the report can be provided, a comprehensive evaluation may not be necessary. In this case, an abbreviated screening/informal assessment may suffice.
Evaluations

Evaluation of Speech Production
An assessment of your child’s articulation and the manner in which speech sounds are produced within words, sentences, and conversational/ spontaneous utterances. Will include an oral-motor examination to allow for observations related to the strength, range of motion, and coordination of the articulators.
*Fluency evaluations, to analyze potential stuttering behaviors (disruptions in the natural flow of speech), are also available.
Evaluation of Expressive/Receptive Language
A test battery that will examine your child’s ability to formulate and produce language in order to convey meaning as well as their capacity to understand/process and interpret language.
Expressive language components that may be evaluated include the use of words and sentences via speaking or writing in terms of vocabulary, word forms, word order, and sentence structure.
Receptive language components that may be evaluated include the ability to comprehend spoken or written words and concepts (vocabulary, grammar, and sentence structure) such as when answering questions and following directions.
*Pragmatic language assessments, to evaluate both verbal and nonverbal parameters related to social communication, are also available.
Social language components that may be evaluated include skills such as initiating and responding to verbal bids, reciprocal turn taking, topic maintenance, making relevant contributions to a topic during conversations, modifying word choice based on the communicative situation, and joining or leaving an ongoing communicative interaction. The assessment may also explore a child’s ability to appropriately interpret and use social cues, including but not limited to facial expressions, body language, and tone of voice.
Evaluation of Speech Production + Expressive/Receptive Language
A comprehensive assessment of both speech sound production and language competency.
